Funding was granted for manuscript development and the publication of more than 20 books in the Fritt Ord Foundation's round of major allocations in October 2014, including photo books, factual prose and art catalogues. For example, Christian Belgaux and Svein Strømmen were granted NOK 75 000 for a documentary photo book on the black metal band Mayhem, while Cecilie Arentz-Hansen was awarded NOK 150 000 to work on a book about Norway's first female physicians. Jørn-Inge Arnesen received NOK 75 000 to write the book "The criminal comedy", and Christian Stejskal received NOK 50 000 for the photo book and multimedia production "My Neighbourhood" about life on Cairo's garbage dumps.
