Long Term Projects – The Freedom of Expression Foundation's Student Research Grants

The Fritt Ord Foundation’s Student Grants

In collaboration with a number of Norwegian universities and university colleges, the Fritt Ord Foundation calls for applications for grants for students who are working on master's theses and documentary films in fields such as human rights, journalism, freedom of expression and democracy building. The call for applications is located on the websites of the respective institutions, but feel free to contact Fritt Ord for more information about the grant applicable to you.

Applications should be sent directly to the relevant faculties. Application deadlines vary, but are often set for sometime during the month of October.

List of the cooperation agreements

Read more about each individual agreement, find the name of the relevant contact, and see lists of earlier grant recipients by clicking on the different institutions.

Students who are not affiliated with any of the universities/university colleges on the list, but who are working on master's theses of particular relevance to Fritt Ord's objectives, may apply for support to Fritt Ord directly through the ordinary grants system. See information about  deadlines and processing times. The application should contain a thorough project description, budget, transcript of academic records and a recommendation from a supervisor or other professionals.

Would you like to participate in the social debate using the professional expertise you have acquired as a master's degree student? Are you interested in sharing findings from your master's thesis with the public, but uncertain about how to proceed? The Fritt Ord Foundation invites you to a writing workshop for master's degree students who have received Fritt Ord grants.
