Long Term Projects – Library

Libraries

The Fritt Ord Foundation invites applications for annual subsidies for literature programmes at Norwegian public libraries. The objective of the call for applications is to strengthen libraries as an arena for communications and to arouse interest in reading and the literary debate. Libraries, organisations and private individuals can apply and the annual deadline is in June.

Call for applications from libraries 2017-18: The Norwegian literary canon

Is there a common Norwegian literary canon? Which canonised works continue to be relevant today? Is popular literature accorded insufficient attention when the best books are named? Which works and authorships would the libraries like to promote? Which publications of today will be the classics of tomorrow? How can libraries promote important Norwegian literature through new activities and initiatives?

Fritt Ord is calling for applications for grants of NOK 50 000 each for communications activities and debate at Norwegian public libraries to promote classic and modern factual prose and literary fiction. Applications for funding will be accepted for lectures, seminars, debates, dialogues or Internet-based communications activities.

Youth|Literature|Library: Literature programmes at libraries 2015–16

The Fritt Ord Foundation announces a call for applications for grants of NOK 50 000 each for literature programmes at libraries that target for youth from 13-19 years of age. Examples include funding for communications activities aimed at non-fiction, fiction and comic strips through meetings with writers, writing courses, debates, reading circles or online communications activities. At the same time, we are open to original ideas for presenting topics other than literature.

Applications are invited from public libraries, or from individuals or organisations that have an event agreement with a library. School libraries that cooperate with local libraries can apply, provided the activities in question are organised at the library. Funding applications can apply to individual events or a series of events. The initiatives should be carried out in autumn 2015 or in 2016.

Deadline for applications: 19 June 2015.
