No fewer than 27 photographers have taken part in the Norwegian Journal of Photography since the project was established in 2011. Fritt Ord's efforts have given participants the opportunity to present their work at the national and international levels alike, in addition to offering workshops, seminars and guidance. We are now issuing a call for applications from photographers for two new years of NJP. The deadline is 1 March 2017. 
 

The Norwegian Journal of Photography was established in 2011 to serve as an arena where independent photographers who work in the interface between traditional press photography on the one hand and art photography on the other will be able to present the full scope of their projects. NJP brings together and supports selected Norwegian photographic documentary projects, and the first edition of the book was launched in February 2013.

Fritt Ord and Norwegian Journal of Photography (NJP) invite the public to the seminar Photographs Lie, Photographers Don't, with Donald Weber. The seminar will take place on Friday 9 October 2015 at 5 p.m. (from 5.00–6.30 p.m.) at the Fritt Ord Foundation, Uranienborgveien 2, Oslo. 

Photographer Donald Weber argues for the return of control over the image, giving authorship to the photographer, and reducing the current dominance of technique and aesthetics in photojournalism. Photojournalism as ethics, as a genre, has been hijacked by "photojournalism" – the style. The style suggests then "truth", objectivity, justice, the rule of error, et cetera. How is it that when photographing action the idea of ​​what photojournalism is and should be is going to be undermined? "A story needs someone to tell it.” Will we be able to take back the meaning of photojournalism, and give meaning to our readers, through authorial photographs? It’s our only hope.

Norwegian Journal of Photography (NJP) and the Fritt Ord Foundation invite the public to a seminar on Friday, 10 October 2014, from 5.00–7.00 pm., at Uranienborgveien 2, Oslo, featuring Stephen Mayes, former managing director of the image bank VII and an expert in communication and the social media, and Magnum photographer Thomas Dworzak. Espen Rasmussen, photographer and NJP editor, will be moderating the seminar. The event is open to the general public.
